I've had a pretty hard think about care data and on balance think we've more to gain by opting in.
@GeraintLewis @helliewm @mellojonny @iona_heath Hi Geraint. Orgs will pay a fee & receive data for that, won't they? Am I missing something?

@C7RKY Hi there. HSCIC use a cost recovery model. Published data are free. -
A 'cost recovery model'
@GeraintLewis? So where are those costs recovered from, with this model? The orgs receiving the data for 'free'? -
@C7RKY Hi. The HSCIC recovers it's costs from the recipient. -
.
@GeraintLewis So they pay a cost-based fee & in exchange, they receive the data? Explaining fee calcs doesn't stop it being sale of data. -
@C7RKY@GeraintLewis well said John, and when NHS record on control of data is so poor, why should we trust them?http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-26016802 … -
@katemasters67@C7RKY@GeraintLewis We can't#fact but you know what their say don't you?#LessonLearned never accountability! -
@ann_poppy@C7RKY@GeraintLewis new reasons everyday to opt out of care data. Just glad I am aware and have the choice.. -
@katemasters67@ann_poppy@GeraintLewis Quite. Looks like only 15% are aware at all? And nearly half of them opt-out? http://www.pulsetoday.co.uk/your-practice/practice-topics/it/gps-reveal-extent-of-caredata-ignorance-among-patients-and-staff/20005713.article#.UvAbCtJ_vYQ … - 2 more replies
