"odds of dying as a result of clinical error in hospital are 33,000 times higher than those of dying in an air crash" http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-421989/Blunder-killed-wife.html …
@GrumpyOldDoc Ok, another fair point. Hadn't considered that angle - thanks Doc. Who knew a 7yr old article would provoke such a debate??

@C7RKY and an article quoting crap figures too, Liam Donaldson pulled his figures out of mid air then and has never referenced them since -
@GrumpyOldDoc Yeah..lot of that about nowadays. Guess I shouldn't be surprised. Not that anyone seems able to agree what the real figure is. -
@C7RKY that's the problem, info is awful in too many areas, rumour and anecdote fill the void -
@GrumpyOldDoc It's like trying to build on shifting foundations, w/o true data. I know it's complex but it can't be impossible to measure. -
@C7RKY drives me nuts, how many patients did I see last year? Inpatient + outpatient, employer stats are miles off, any details? Coding mess -
@GrumpyOldDoc Well for my part, I'd be tempted to start by fixing that. All other solutions proposed are based upon guesswork otherwise.
