@C7RKY Thats 7 years old. I see overall point but I'm not sure the two industries are that compatible beyond an example of safety culture. -
@ShaunLintern It is. Had no idea that merely quoting from an old article would provoke as much comment tbh. The debate has been interesting. -
@C7RKY I've not seen it tbh. Think airline industry has a lot to teach about safety systems but think the comparison ends there. -
@ShaunLintern Not sure of the value in the comparison tbh, but it seems worthy of exploration, if there is even a single lesson to learn. -
@ShaunLintern I'm always mindful of the fact that unlike pilots/passengers, doctors don't die with their pts if they make a mistake. Factor? -
@C7RKY they do, what is suicide rate in profession, what triggers it? Look it up. -
@GrumpyOldDoc Ok, another fair point. Hadn't considered that angle - thanks Doc. Who knew a 7yr old article would provoke such a debate?? -
@C7RKY and an article quoting crap figures too, Liam Donaldson pulled his figures out of mid air then and has never referenced them since - 5 more replies

@C7RKY we certainly feel the NPSA does not have the effect that it could in identifying repeated failings and getting improvements -
@penn_clinneg I was under the impression that the NPSA had been disbanded? That said, I do take your point. -
@C7RKY yes..ss not working- was right idea & shld have made difference.Data is available&just not used-even if just looked at claims history -
@penn_clinneg I think complaints are logical 1st place to learn, in any regulated environment. Amazes me that medical world has avoided it. -
@C7RKY agreed!

@C7RKY Odds considerably shorten if you're old, frail, disabled, mentally or chronically ill and don't meet the allotted budget allocation. -
@palmaz2112 I'm inclined to agree Pamela.
