Of course views all mine. All without prejudice. Just a regular chap after all. Oh...and RT's may equally imply ridicule as endorsement.

.@DrStelling Almost as much as it does for the poor patients, who are kept largely in the dark about such underhanded, unethical behaviours.

@C7RKY But yeah a lot of this feeds into how the USA tries (and fails) to fund quality biomedical research that's replicable

.@DrStelling Does anyone succeed nowadays? There's more than a trace of 'he who pays the piper' about much of what I see passing as science.

@C7RKY Some aren't evil or anything, but are still not free of bias, conscious or no

@DrStelling Understood, but for me science demands such bias be excluded. It invites challenge & is transparent too. Hardly our current form

@C7RKY There's a lot of money involved, yes, but it's also abt power over the future, and power over the next gen of scientists....

@DrStelling This is a concept I'd love to explore further because wanting to have power over scientists has sinister undertones for me. Why?

@C7RKY And we younger scis must be allowed to argue in public with our bosses abt the science without fear of losing our jobs

@DrStelling If I had my way, the only ones fearing for their jobs, would be those *not* challenging the science. It's not science without it

@C7RKY Also: a lot of what you see right now is biomed scientists being more "wedded to their hypothesis" than to their data.

@DrStelling I know it must happen but it's still disappointing to hear it said. A hypothesis has no value unless it proves to be unbreakable

@C7RKY well, more like repeatable. biomed doesn't have a physical model yet, so the hypotheses tend be vague compared to (say) physics

@DrStelling I still prefer unbreakable I think. Or at least rarely breakable. In a medical environment, does that not determine risk levels?

@C7RKY Heh medical science is still more art than science. High amt of inter-observer variance. Not-so-good. #workingonit
