One simple thing NHS Chief Executives can do is make time in diary every week to spend at least half day just listening to patients stories
@Trevthered But even if you achieve listening Trevor, (good luck with that btw), there's no real point, if you're playing the wrong tune...

@C7RKY Listening is the most important part of communication - ACTING on what you hear comes a close second -
@Trevthered Sorry Trevor, I'm clearly not making my point. It's who you listen *to*. If PALS is telling you the story, not pt, don't bother. -
@C7RKY Agree 100% John - patient is the only person to listen to if you want the REAL story - middle man (person) does not KNOW the story -
@Trevthered V often true. Of course sometimes they know exactly what the story is, but they've no intention of telling it like the pt would! -
@C7RKY In my 35 year career the most powerful stories were direct from patients - their eyes tell you everything you need to know -
@Trevthered The eyes of those we tell our stories to, offer us patients a deep insight into them too. Better stop there. It wasn't pretty!! -
@C7RKY Remember being in a room where our Health Authority Chiarman cried when told their stories by carers - it was a significant moment
