A sign of an insecure manager is one who wants to know where you are and what you are doing
@Trevthered Disagree Trevor I'm afraid - rare for us! Whole point of regulation is to check standards. Trust merely dictates how frequently.

@C7RKY Good to disagree John - from that comes agreement. Regulated or not regulated - the best manager will let go of 'power' -
@Trevthered Indeed! :) Happy to delegate power, but never let go of it. To do so, is to lose control of what I'm responsible for regulating -
@C7RKY Its like swimming in shallow water where our feet can still touch floor .. true liberation is swimming in the deep end my friend -
@Trevthered No, I'm very sorry, but this really misses the point of what regulating an activity is all about. You don't get to let go. Ever. -
@C7RKY Push the responsibility for regulated activities to front line folks they CAN do it John -
@Trevthered Everybody, at all levels of a regulated industry, has their responsilities. It's not about pushing it to the front line. It's > -
@Trevthered about having the right reporting ratios, so that all activity is checked by the level above, against compliance with standards. -
@C7RKY Agree as long as 'reporting' doesn't become an industry in itself - in my NHS career more time spent on process than outcome - 4 more replies

@C7RKY John - I don't believe anyone actually 'manages' anyone now. People are intelligent and manage themselves - we need less managers -
@Trevthered We certainly need a lot less of those who purport to be managers currently. But no point claiming to be regulated w/o enough. -
@C7RKY We agree :-) -
@Trevthered Knew we would eventually - we usually do! There is one part we're still at odds on though I'm afraid... (next tweet)
