A sign of an insecure manager is one who wants to know where you are and what you are doing
@Trevthered I liken it to walking several dogs at the park. Some you give more lead to as you trust. Others you keep close. None you let go!

@C7RKY In my expereince 95% of folks NEVER let you down if you trust 'em. 5% let you down whether you trust 'em or not -
@Trevthered When working in regulated environments, trust is only relative to the amount of attention someone gets tho, surely? All get some -
@C7RKY Ricardo Semler got it right - start with trust - the rest falls into place easily -
@Trevthered Disagree Trevor I'm afraid - rare for us! Whole point of regulation is to check standards. Trust merely dictates how frequently. -
@C7RKY Good to disagree John - from that comes agreement. Regulated or not regulated - the best manager will let go of 'power' -
@Trevthered Indeed! :) Happy to delegate power, but never let go of it. To do so, is to lose control of what I'm responsible for regulating -
@C7RKY Its like swimming in shallow water where our feet can still touch floor .. true liberation is swimming in the deep end my friend -
@Trevthered No, I'm very sorry, but this really misses the point of what regulating an activity is all about. You don't get to let go. Ever. - 8 more replies

@Trevthered To let go completely is to abdicate responsibility. Of course, some you learn to trust, so look v infrequently. But still look.. -
@C7RKY I always worked best for bosses who left me alone to ge ton with my job but I knew they were there IF I needed them.
