@C7RKY@OLearyJan@NHSwhistleblowr Honesty has no compromise unless it's NHS /Gov/Berwick's inten 2 continue 2 manipulate truth to cover up! -
@willcpowell@C7RKY@OLearyJan @NHSwhistleblows honesty can be reckless; between dr + patient, stark truth not always appropriate -
@drlfarrell@C7RKY@OLearyJan We're not all idiots! If a doctor witheld info that would cause damage to the patient then that's ACCEPTABLE! -
@willcpowell@drlfarrell@OLearyJan Exactly Will. But commonly, witholding the info actually causes/disguises harm. That's UNACCEPTABLE! -
@C7RKY@drlfarrell@OLearyJan But John there is a distinction between being untruthful re errors & witholding info from patient for own good -
@willcpowell@drlfarrell@OLearyJan I agree entirely. Such circumstances do exist. But we both know there are far more cases beyond that... -
@C7RKY@drlfarrell@OLearyJan The main objective of a Duty of Candour is honesty following medical error it's really as simple as that John! -
@willcpowell@drlfarrell@OLearyJan Indeed. Doesn't seem like too much to ask, does it? Not that you'd believe so, from all the avoidance...

@OLearyJan@willcpowell As are many, I'm afraid. Clinicians point to prof codes as their justification. But codes have no standing in law.
