They wanted a doctor who was also a criminal - convicted of the gross negligent manslaughter of one of their patients - to be struck off in order to protect public confidence in the medical profession. I'm no fan of the GMC, but on this occasion they were right, imho.

I agree entirely. And I suddenly have a newfound interest in exploring how the duty of candour applies when it comes to providing information to the media. But that's for another day.
