Well we aren’t doing the same things, we now have a strong governance process in place and I’m proud to be part of it. We have better staff morale, our patient care is better and we anticipate a good outcome from our recent CQC visit.

I think Datix & equivalent reporting systems are important. The fault lies in jobs which do not structure enough time for governance activities such audit, incident reporting etc..(& in poor trusts, managers game reporting systems). But it's better to contribute data if you can.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/qlu0w2eqima1jy5/Show%20and%20Tell%20Datix.pdf?dl=0 … Who in their right mind would want to battle through a form like this? Our old form asked Who Are You? What happened?

Datix isn't fixed. It can be customised.

Yes, I’ve heard that one too. At my previous Hospital it got customised by being made even more long winded and difficult to usehttps://www.dropbox.com/s/qlu0w2eqima1jy5/Show%20and%20Tell%20Datix.pdf?dl=0 …

That's a problem with your management, not with the basic tool.

If we want a new technology for patients eg Freestyle Libre we have to produce Evidence of Cost Effectiveness but Trusts just allowed to spend millions on
#Datix with not a shred of evidence it ‘works’ or is as effective as an In House Database built for a few quid@griffglen4 replies 1 retweet 2 likes -

That's a different argument. I don't think anyone could dispute that collecting standardised incident data that can be analysed & tracked is anything but useful. I didn't find Datix as irksome as you do. What I minded was lack of feedback. https://minhalexander.files.wordpress.com/2016/10/hcc-investigation_into_mid_staffordshire_nhs_foundation_trust.pdf … MidStaffs:pic.twitter.com/p3beUnbZvs

There is a right number of incidents to be reported. They, whoever 'they' are, count the incidents, maybe even collate into types of incidents for audit purposes. They aim to get the correct number of incident reports coming in. Maybe to satisfy HSE? It's not about improving

There is a belief that the more
#Datix incidents reported the better because it shows the Organisation has an open culture in which staff are not afraid to Speak Out! If I knew a road had a lot of incident reports & no repairs, I would avoid it.5 replies 1 retweet 6 likes
That's the result of CQC choosing to (mis)interpret data that way, imho. I remember raising that at the time CQC mentioned it in a board meeting. It was an inevitable consequence. With workplace behaviours, you generally get what you deserve, based upon what you choose to value.
