Statistically one of the kids who was taught CPR today is more likely they will come across someone who is naturally dying than suffering a cardiac arrest. That’s why they need to know the difference.https://twitter.com/janetselephants/status/1052247334149640192 …

You are probably right on that Kate. However If one child goes away and manages to safe a life because of the skills they have learnt today then I have succeeded in providing them with skills. I am also for end of life care but that is a totally different subject.

Is it totally different? I hope none of the children you taught CPR today try to resuscitate (CPR) a dying grandparent.

As I said in the private message I sent you. I will not be drawn into protracted discussion on Twitter about when and when not to perform CPR. This is and was a positive day providing skills that are vital in saving a person's life. I am proud to be part of this day. End of.

You didn’t send me a private message. CPR is very misunderstood. teaching kids the skill without teaching them when not to use it is perpetuating the misinformation that causes the misinformation. in my eyes that’s unsafe and it’s adding to comms issues re DNACPR down the line.

Thank you for the comments you have left on my threads. Today is not a day to be discussing when and when not to use CPR. The day is about teaching children how to perform this life saving skill. I for one would want CPR to be carried out on a loved one if any of these

I just hope those kids don't get caught up in any kind of backlash. Even doctors don't seem to speak very kindly of those who carry out unnecessary/unwanted CPR.https://twitter.com/aidan_baron/status/1052938290574348288?s=21 …
