Everybody wants a system that's safe. The only debate there is who is preventing progress. But current efforts are very much themed around uniquely securing immunity from GNM prosecution for doctors imho. Something I, as a member of the public, find to be objectionable frankly.
It's a GMOJ because the numbers say so? It's an interesting line of argument and a fascinating set of stats, but I'm not sure it trumps a jury hearing the evidenced argument from both sides. Does make me realise how little I know about Nurse Amaro's case though, shamefully.

Snap, sadly, re nurse Amaro. Not sure jury trumps sense tho'. Brexit ref. was democratic but does it trump sense?
-
The problem for me is you're making an argument on stats alone, but without access to the evidence presented. Could equally indicate it's the stats that are wrong? Perhaps this is just the first time 2 people have been caught? Cover up culture is apparent from all major inquiries

In reality, there’s little we can know about either case from where we stand. But remains enough doubt for issue not to shrivel & go away. Rather than villifying medical profession as ‘protectionist’ for rising up to issue, maybe better asking why such dispute about it

And not just in a shrugging shoulders, scratching head way, but in an inquisitive, interested way

I only feel the 'protectionist' label applies when those calling for reform seem to struggle to express supporting facts clearly. I'll stand by any efforts to fix the 'system' & even support efforts to hold trust management to account. But I want facts.https://twitter.com/C7RKY/status/1049231911175028736 …

I fear, though, that your efforts at ‘fact checking’ sometimes appear as biased as the ‘facts’ you are trying to challenge- partly your own frustration, partly the Twitter-effect?
