@C7RKY and as if they were reading minds... hugely different perceptions in responses to errorhttps://twitter.com/kaifpardhan/status/1053621271605301248 …

Should be a safe space to be transparent and open... again, completely different perceptions of a term that hasn’t really been unpicked
-
Should be but that's not how it's being used here. It's being held up as a means of safe disclosure. Safe in the sense that they won't tell anyone. Secret. Some are even calling for reflections to have legal privilege status now, meaning even police/CPS can't request them. Secret
-
Really? Haven’t had a chance to catch up with the whole conference, but that wouldn’t fit with what I know of the speakers
-
Conference? We may be thinking of different things? Sorry I can't direct you to a specific time, but the subject came up at HSC. I'm going to watch this for a 3rd time soon, so I can let you know later if you don't want to watch it all. Original tweet came from med ed conference in Canada
-
Aah.. sorry. I should've been more clear. By 'here', I meant in the UK, rather than the tweet. That said, I think the portrayal of events in the UK has fired up discussion of this sort among doctors around the world, so no surprise to see it on a conference agenda elsewhere.

Circular tweets :)

We should be addressing those who would shift blame, rather than creating a means through which blame can be avoided. And whilst I do agree those behind the 'system' should be held to account, I fear it being abused to avoid individual accountability.https://twitter.com/c7rky/status/1053582542694244352?s=21 …

Guess it comes down to which would make a bigger impact on patient care? IMO that’s the most important?
-
Agreed, as long as we're taking the long term view. I always say there's a reason ever AA meeting starts with 'Hello my name is.. & I'm an alcoholic'. First step in solving any problem is openly admitting to its existence. Complete transparency has to be our start point, imho.
-
Do you think that’s doable? Such a huge gap in perception in what happens in healthcare. Agree it has to be transparent: but how do you bridge that gap between what different groups feel is normal or acceptable without some safety?
-
I say that because Twitter would have me believe that I’m an evil person for continuing to support a system that exists to hurt people. And that doesn’t match what I see from my colleagues. Or maybe we’re all just horrible people working in healthcare. Don’t know
-
I do hope you've never been made to feel that way by anything I've tweeted to you? Hope not! I don't think everyone working in healthcare is horrible, but I do think the medical world exists in its own 'bubble' which together with secrecy, accounts for much of that perception gap
-
I honestly believe the world outside of that bubble is starting to come knocking and is determined to bring a little of the public's perspective into the debate, plus strip back the secrecy and curtail the cover ups. An uncomfortable, but necessary step, imho. For all concerned.
-
This is why I really appreciate you taking the time to reply and talk to me. Lots of people on here prepared to discuss & chat :)
