Hi John, all our appeals can be seen herehttps://www.professionalstandards.org.uk/what-we-do/our-work-with-regulators/decisions-about-practitioners/cases-appealed …

Thanks! So you do actually appeal MPTS decisions and have done so? Very interesting, thank you. Have you published your position anywhere regarding the Bawa Garba case in particular please? I'm interested in due dilligence re checking
@the_mpts accurately reflects public opinion. -
Very helpful, thank you. May I ask what an 'ISG' is, as mentioned in this link? https://www.professionalstandards.org.uk/docs/default-source/disclosure---foia/bawa-garba-recommendation-and-manager-final-decision.pdf?sfvrsn=66b87220_2 … I'm also keen to understand how MPTS panels & their members are assessed as making decisions which are an accurate reflection of public opinion. Anything on that?

ISG = indicative sanctions guidance. On your second point, panel members are assessed by the regulators, that isn't part of our remit. However, when we share learning points with the regulators on FtP cases, we ask for them to be also shared with panel members.

Interesting. I hesitate to continue asking more questions because you've been so helpful already, (rarely do I give out brownie points), but it's for that very same reason that I want to keep asking you things! Perhaps just a couple more... :)

Given Prof Williams muted that GMC weren't happy with MPTS panel decisions, (to explain them wanting power of appeal), does that somehow imply GMC weren't happy with your (lack of) appeals? How've you determined a GNM conviction doesn't affect public confidence in the profession?

Hi John, happy to help where we can but the answers to those questions are long and rather too complex for Twitter. Could you email us?https://www.professionalstandards.org.uk/contact-us
