Morning! Beautiful day here, so chance to get some jobs done. Good news is, it doesn't look like there'll be much to catch up on. If I'd known having an evidence-based rant would slow my timeline down so much, I'd have tried it years ago.pic.twitter.com/dm29weAlXT

I like the phrase 'an evidence-based rant' - now I'm pondering 'at what point does and evidence-based rant become a well-argued description of unacceptable behaviour'?

Not sure, Mike. I think the point where people start trying to play the man rather than the ball may be one indicator though. Comes just after the 'first they ignore you' stage. :)

I'll have pointed to my own piece twice within minutes now - very bad form! - but re your 'Comes just after the 'first they ignore you' stage.' compare with what I wrote in https://blogs.bmj.com/spcare/2018/09/14/how-social-media-expanded-my-world-by-a-bereaved-carer/ …

Some things are worth repeating - no bad form there for me. Especially for a message that's so key. Social media is a relatively new factor, but it's making a huge difference already. Challenging traditional perceived wisdom & helping to expose so much. Long may it rain...

John, when clinicians write about 'using social media' they tend to focus on the ethics of doing that, and they need to get past their own ethics committees. We - laymen - don't. Do you think that clinicians are 'behind the curve' in terms of using social media?

I struggle to think of clinicians being behind the curve on social media tbh, Mike. In most subjects they're far more organised, coordinated & vocal than patients could ever hope to be. We are a more disparate group who tend to focus on our individual concerns, not bigger picture
