PS I might be wrong - I've an idea that John is rather less-tolerant of the Bawa Garba events than I am. But both of us, want to know 'EXACTLY who/what is to blame?' if BG's behaviour is less mea culpa than 'forced on her by the system'.
It is a really good question Mark has posed. Worthy of more than just tweets in response in many ways. I think if the truth causes the tarnishing of an entire profession, then we have a real problem. A problem that will only be solved by first recognising and accepting the truth.

One truth - it is simply not the case, that 'all palliative care doctors are murderers' and you will find some people writing that on Twitter. Another truth - people on all sides, tend to avoid conversations they think will perhaps be 'very difficult and very 'fraught''.pic.twitter.com/FIMLa1mOC3

Generalisations are rarely helpful & far less likely to be evidence based. Doesn't mean they're all wrong of course, (Gosport springs to mind), but the evidence matters. Avoiding difficult & v fraught conversations hasn't really been my style, but I realise that's not universal.

Depends on the situation, re 'difficult conversations'. Because I do EoL, the main difficult conversation amounts to 'do you know you will die quite soon?' and that one, is very widely NOT held 'explicitly': of course, 'guidance/protocol' assumes the conversation HAS HAPPENED.
