Never thought my very modestly-sized lawn would take me as many hours to mow as it did yesterday. It was nearly dark by the time I finally finished and now I have 13(!!) black bags full of grass cuttings to get rid of. Turns out less often isn't the lazy option. Knackered today.

If you've a car that can accommodate 'em, see if you can get yourself one or two of those builder's tonne bags - the sort that stone or sand come in. Light, tough, reusable, capacious. Couple of those will happily swallow 13 black bags' worth of clippings. Only one tip trip.

Pro tip: leave wet clippings in the bag under shelter for a week or so, to dry out before taking to tip. Lighter bag = easier handling.
