I wrote something about chronic illness and waiting lists: “A Waiting List Isn’t Healthcare”https://medium.com/@Asher_Wolf/a-waiting-list-isnt-healthcare-b7ab59c2b107?source=twitterShare-c00a63088a01-1537070915 …

This is why a properly funded, healthcare system adequately staffed by highly educated and knowledgeable healthcare professionals is imperative, for the health and well-being of society. That being said, there’s also a great need for staff to be compassionate and empathetic.

We are clearly failing in our duty of care, on many fronts.

I go so far as saying that compassion and empathy, should be a prerequisite for anyone involved in direct patient care. Although I’m not sure how you would assess that in an individual interviewing for a job.

It's pretty obvious to service users. Same as you can tell quite quickly into a conversation with a mental health professional in your own care if they are stigmatising or domineering. Get service users to do the interviews & have equal or final say.

I like that idea. Part of a panel, perhaps?

yeah but not a tokenistic service user on panel of professionals. Role plays are good too - reveal more about how someone behaves in practice than a 'traditional' interview.

Not at all. A must-have vote to secure for me. I'm a big fan of roleplays. (Yeah, I know... I'm weird). Rarely conducted a job interview without doing one. A surprising amount were game-changing in terms of my decision to recruit too. Or not!
