Lawyers in 1 seminar were aghast at threat to treat me counter to my ADRT +apparently bemused in the other Yes, lawyers warned it was potentially assault but both doctors (separately) pointed out that no HCP has (yet) been found guilty of GIVING treatment.

Their point was that, even though I'd just said I refused CPR under all circumstances (and they did not doubt my capacity) + I said I had an ADRT refusing CPR, + my Welfare Attorney was in same seminar + supported my refusal - nevertheless if I had cardiac arrest they'd do CPR.

Many Intensivists say they wouldn’t want ever to be admitted to ITU but whizz frail patients with little chance of a good outcome off to ITU ...

A sort of ‘Do more than you would be done by’ philosophy

I certainly wouldn't do it, I also remind those doctors quibbling about writing fluids and pain/agitation management up for the terminally ill. or frail old ladies not expected to survive hip surgery after a fall, they have a duty of care to the patient not their own values

Well said! I don't know who those senior doctors were, but I suspect the seminar would've been a far less pleasant experience for them had I been attending to hear such paternalism on display. Consent is the expression of free will. Even God doesn't get to interfere with that!
