I don’t think there is one in Scotland
I was regarded as radically innovative when I arrived here in Feb 2018 and asked the secretaries here in #Oban to ensure patients got copies of Clinic Letters

Its still a minority who do this, with slow spread. Explicit SG support would help speed things up. Renal Rheum and Resp do it here, not others.

A small contribution in the grand scheme of health and social care correspondence but the treatment summary being advocated in Cancer service by
#TCAT is designed to be written to the patient and copied to the GP. More support required to make it happen everytime.#dNMAHP1 reply 1 retweet 5 likes -

Absolutely agree. Requires us to be mindful of language and to understand what info is actually helpful; not just what we want to share. Big changes in some instances... Not quite there yet but huge progress. Digital support and clinical leadership is key.

I (&many of my colleagues) cc to parents;makes you think about what you’re writing, what’s important and focus on the family.more personal and patient/family centred. Balance of content Can be challenging but its appreciated & parents often ask for it if they don’t get it now.

The subtlety with the treatment summary is that it should be written for/to the individual and copied to others I.e. GP. It's about putting the individual at the heart and empowering/enabling.

Colleagues are often anxious that writing to patients might confuse or worry them. I remind them that we should be anxious about our face to face communicationpic.twitter.com/G19yu6UmwN

It’s lack of knowing and lack of information and lack of expert opinion and insight that worries people more

I'm prob not your average patient, but I record every consultation now. Allows one to review what was said later in our own time when we're more comfortable and able to absorb it. Esp where bad news is involved. Emotion can send your mind racing & ears can be left lagging behind.
