Chris do you think there will be a point when the documents from the court are released to show why she was convicted. I think if the public are to understand why the medical profession are digging their heels in, it is important to know the facts. Do medical staff know the facts

Thanks Allyn. Legal team now have a transcript of the criminal trial . It was suprising it took until 2018 for a transcript to be requested and made. Not sure why the
@MPS_Medical or@TheBMA didn't request it in 2015 I agree the public & drs should know what happened in court.3 replies 5 retweets 8 likes -

That transcript should be *immediately* published in the public interest, imho. How long have they had it? If
#BawaGarba's conviction is unjust, then this can vindicate HCP support for her and answer nagging questions. You get a mention in this, Chris. >https://twitter.com/C7RKY/status/1028409578076160000 …John Clarke added,

I can only hope this helps explain my perspective & I thank you for explaining yours. https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?resid=4C387C68AF784C5F!4877&ithint=file%2cdocx&app=Word&authkey=!AJ1wnW1exT0tsis …#JackAdcock#BawaGarba#IsabelAmaro2 replies 1 retweet 1 like -
These issues shouldn't be conflated. Her initial conviction may or may not be correct. Hopefully we will find out in due course. The support for her is regarding that she should not be struck off because she is a good and safe doctor following the conviction.

I accept there may be some people out there who think she shouldn't have been convicted. My own stance is to be more open minded and get all the evidence available before making unjustified assertions.

I appreciate the open mind - wish there were more of that about. But this is more than just a fitness to practise issue now, it's about confidence in the profession. A profession which has largely supported her without access to that original court transcript.

I don't do the job to enjoy the confidence of the public. I'm sure most of my colleagues are the same. We just want to get on with our jobs and have the resources to do them well and safely.

You may not do it for that purpose, but public confidence is recognised as significant for a reason. Best I can tell, it's what today's result is largely about. Not that the debate will end with today's result, of course.
