Of course views all mine. All without prejudice. Just a regular chap after all. Oh...and RT's may equally imply ridicule as endorsement.

Thanks Allyn. Legal team now have a transcript of the criminal trial . It was suprising it took until 2018 for a transcript to be requested and made. Not sure why the @MPS_Medical or @TheBMA didn't request it in 2015 I agree the public & drs should know what happened in court.

That transcript should be *immediately* published in the public interest, imho. How long have they had it? If #BawaGarba's conviction is unjust, then this can vindicate HCP support for her and answer nagging questions. You get a mention in this, Chris. >https://twitter.com/C7RKY/status/1028409578076160000 …

.@doctorcaldwell Dear Gordon, I've spent considerably longer than your commute thinking about your letter entitled 'Mistakes Happen'. I can only hope this helps explain my perspective & I thank you for explaining yours. https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?resid=4C387C68AF784C5F!4877&ithint=file%2cdocx&app=Word&authkey=!AJ1wnW1exT0tsis … #JackAdcock #BawaGarba #IsabelAmaro

These issues shouldn't be conflated. Her initial conviction may or may not be correct. Hopefully we will find out in due course. The support for her is regarding that she should not be struck off because she is a good and safe doctor following the conviction.

I accept there may be some people out there who think she shouldn't have been convicted. My own stance is to be more open minded and get all the evidence available before making unjustified assertions.

Having read Dr Cusack's interview - and I think he is a true hero for the work he has put in to remediate Hadiza - I think very deep questions need to be asked, especially with regards to expert witnesses.

Overall we need to see the bigger picture here, beyond this one very sad case, on how to make care better and safer with the resources we have and protect patients AND health care professionals.

Human factors input in healthcare is woeful. My own experience is that 'outsiders' really have no idea on the complexity of medical work and therefore HCPs are somewhat sceptical of the barrage of 'constructive criticism'.

Most lay people I speak to don't know the difference between the terms GP, consultant, physician or surgeon. Some think GPs work for consultants, and that all consultants are surgeons.

I think we have valuable lessons to learn from other industries outside medicine but we can't just absorb them into everyday practice without making sure they truly improve the art of looking after sick people!

I hope that we can have a less retributive recourse and that we all learn valuable lessons and keep an open mind. We need to learn lessons that will make catastrophe less likely in the future.

I hope you can see from my letter to Gordon that I'm trying to keep the dialogue constructive. You make some good points, PD - as I've come to expect of you. Avoiding a repeat of this situation should be the priority for us all.

I did - and I'm glad both letters weren't kept private so we can all learn from them. Some very good points all round. There's no point sulking if someone has a different opinion. We have to find common ground for the greater good.
