Of course views all mine. All without prejudice. Just a regular chap after all. Oh...and RT's may equally imply ridicule as endorsement.

.⁦@KenZeroHarm⁩ ⁦@C7RKY⁩ 5 1/2 hours for lab to get blood results back - clearly Dr #BawaGarba should also have gone to The Lab and processed the samples as well. Critics think she should have done everything else ...pic.twitter.com/bEVQ4W4Mjw

No. I would expect a ST6 to know what U&E parameters are though.

Out of curiosity do u know what the numbers were? (Not a rhetorical question). Have seen the vbg but not other results b4.

Not sure they have ever been disclosed apart from the U&E’s were deranged and high inflammatory markers. Was comment in SAE that because reference range wasn’t with results no realisation that they were deranged.

It’s all in the SUI - had the bloods been reported back within an hour with abnormalities highlighted as was usual on computer system he might have been transferred to PICU before noon https://www.dropbox.com/s/07zrsx5nypav9fn/FOI.SUI%20REPORT%20FOI%20Redacted.pdf?dl=0 … But the bloods reporting system broke at 11am

Should a ST6 need U&E abnormalities highlighted though? Counsultant saw blood results and vbg but wasn’t concerned. That’s what really confuses me about this, especially given presenting symptoms.

The chronology of the report is so poor, I keep trying to work out... did she ever actually have anything other than abnormal blood results in her possession? Should her assumption not be that there's still a problem whilst she's awaiting new results that show otherwise if so?

Venous blood gases ( vbg )are run through machines based in A&E, ITU etc, results available immediately. U&E’s etc go to the lab, they were delayed and weren’t repeated. 2nd vbg insufficient sample, didn’t show lactate.

Thank you, that helps. So delayed results and insufficient samples aside, what results did she actually have to work with?? Anything that *wasn't* abnormal that you can see?

The initial results ( vbg ) were grossly abnormal. The kidney function etc was abnormal as well but we don’t know exactly what they were. It was the vbg and presenting symptoms that were really concerning.

The numbers are in the SUI - the bloods were 4h late coming back and the SUI states #BawaGarba phoned more than once to get them but was sent pillar to post. The SUI states changes in Lab Process were urgently needed. The situation was dangerous not #BawaGarba @DrUmeshPrabhu

Surely there are 2 issues here though? Certainly there was a problem with getting results but there is also the problem of interpretation of the results that were available and recognition of a very poorly patient.
