#BawaGarba Consultants revealed the truth.
200k people from over 100 countries read this raw account of the Dr #bawagarba case from the Paediatric consultants that have supported her.
Have a read then read it again. How did this happenhttp://54000doctors.org/blogs/an-account-by-concerned-uk-paediatric-consultants-of-the-tragic-events-surrounding-the-gmc-action-against-dr-bawa-garba.html …

These issues shouldn't be conflated. Her initial conviction may or may not be correct. Hopefully we will find out in due course. The support for her is regarding that she should not be struck off because she is a good and safe doctor following the conviction.
-
I accept there may be some people out there who think she shouldn't have been convicted. My own stance is to be more open minded and get all the evidence available before making unjustified assertions.

Having read Dr Cusack's interview - and I think he is a true hero for the work he has put in to remediate Hadiza - I think very deep questions need to be asked, especially with regards to expert witnesses.
-
Overall we need to see the bigger picture here, beyond this one very sad case, on how to make care better and safer with the resources we have and protect patients AND health care professionals.
-
I agree with that last point wholeheartedly. And I also agree re expert witnesses, but I must say; patients are on the wrong end of that scenario every day. Clinicians definitely benefit more often than they lose out from questionable expert witnesses imho. Slightly ironic really

Challenging
@gmcuk on#BawaGarba is about challenging principles toxic to NHS. 1. GMC leaders challenging decision on their independent expert MTP panel. 2. Disregarding system failures + decisions of senior healthcare people. Another Eg of GMC actionshttps://www.crowdjustice.com/case/we-won-whistleblowing-protecti/ … -
A GMC CEO being allowed to challenge an MTP panel decision and also being able to disregard senior doctor and leader responsibility + system failures are principles that if not challenged in
#BawaGarba case could be used later to COVER UP something politically inconvenient. -
