Dear John I spent all of my commute today thinking about you and have written you a letter entitled Mistakes Happen. It is about #JackAdcock #BawaGarba #IsabelAmaro & #HumanLimitations Here it is:

Dear John You write masterfully, beautifully.
@JanMDavies I am left wondering that once#BawaGarba was judged truly exceptionally bad and guilty of manslaughter of a child why the sentence didn’t match the conviction? Shouldn’t she have been put away for 10 years or more? -
Or could it be that The Judge was sending a coded message ‘The Law is an Ass’ by handing down such a lenient sentence for really truly bad mistakes that through gross negligence killed a child?
-
These two got 7years and 5years for gross negligence manslaughter of a child and they weren’t even driving the truck (the driver was not convicted - compare
#BawaGarba convicted, no charge against Leicester bosses neither Consultants nor Managers)pic.twitter.com/Vlr1LMxD9C

Your logic is powerful, I just disagree, that is all ....
-
Completely understood. I recognise there are no winners here, so whatever our perspective, we have to find a way to avoid a repeat. That much I'm sure we agree on.
-
Did you watch
#DavidSellu at#RSM? The conclusion of those who had been ‘worked up’ for Manslaughter & the Lawyers at end of the meeting was It’s a toss of the coin if you are charged, then a toss of the coin whether convicted’ https://videos.rsm.ac.uk/video/mistake-or-manslaughter …@djnicholl@rogerkline

It's become apparent that several people have had trouble accessing my reply to Gordon's letter, so here's a Dropbox version that may help solve the problem.

Thank you for writing this excellent letter John

Can't read John's piece on this computer - I get an 'unsupported browser' message, and I can't update my browser on this computer: I try a different computer [system] later. Apparently BG is being covered 8-30 tonight Panorama BBC1.
-
Had another message saying the same thing Mike - sorry - I've not tried to publicly share a document in this way before. Does it help it I convert it to a pdf?

I don't know [for the way you are doing it]. I put lots of stuff on Dignity in Care - once you have joined (free and easy) you can post pieces in its discussion forum, and you can attach PDFs. Provided you are discussing something about 'dignity in care' then you are 'on topic'.
-
I clearly need to brush up on my IT skills - sorry. I've taken the cop-out option until I can work out what I'm doing wrong and have emailed it to you Mike.
-
Thanks John - I'll now be able to read both pieces. I do think that my 30/01/15 addition (WHAT CAN BE KNOWN ?) to my thread at https://www.dignityincare.org.uk/Discuss-and-debate/Dignity-Champions-forum/They-Just-Cant-See-It/761/ … is relevant to this type of bad event.pic.twitter.com/7hAUSqJ00n

Great to read two well written letters that probably covers both sides of the murky Twitter debate. Totally agree with Gordon about human limitations but for me the most important point what John makes is it is strange how the medical profession on mass defend with all facts

...if the GMC had not appealed the original MPTS decision of suspension for 12/12 I very much doubt we would have heard of the
#BawaGarba case (just as no one has heard of the case of#Garg (urologist convicted of GNM & went back to work after suspension) -
I expected
#BawaGarba would have been given leave to Appeal her Criminal Conviction, which still stands, after#DavidSellu’s conviction was quashed. Then even I struggled to believe the@gmcuk decision to ask for the@gmcuk penalty to be increased

John, you have certainly articulated most of my concerns about this case beautifully, thank you.
-
He is a wordsmith even if I disagree with the argument
-
Gordon, you always write very eloquently. The great thing about this debate is the manner in which it has been conducted, with respect for opposing points of view.
