Why strange, given what I've said above? Her 22(?) 'errors' appear prolonged and ultimately fatal, but she could've both reduced her workload and increased Jack's chances with a simple referral. Why didn't she bleep cardiology, where he was already a lifelong pt, for example?

No, it’s not different. Should have been a Critical Care referral as not cardiology issue.

The patient was admitted with GI symptoms, concern for pneumonia and ultimately succumbed to sepsis. None of those clinical issues would have been appropriate to consult cardiology for. In the U.S., specialty consulting services do not chase results unrelated to their area. 1/
