Of course views all mine. All without prejudice. Just a regular chap after all. Oh...and RT's may equally imply ridicule as endorsement.

For a number of doctors to be defending her actions, has me thinking that the is generally the level of acceptable practice & care. Why else would they be screaming "it could be me next"? We accept it as service users or die.

If the doctors tweeting #iamhadiza truly believe they’d have acted the same, we are stuffed.

It seems clear that the child's collapse was a result of his mother's administering enalapril in direct opposition to the doctor's orders. A system which allows that to happen is tragically flawed. It is unrealistic and unfair to hold doctors accountable for systemic disasters.

The hospital's SUI claims Dr #BawaGarba duty to write a treatment sheet and document decision about enalapril. Had she done that, nurse in next ward would have had the answer when the mother asked.

As I understand the situation she wrote a treatment chart ; it did not include enalapril; enalapril should not have been administered.

Let me be clear; the enalapril should not have been administered in the absence of a hospital prescription

It seems there was a local “culture” of parent administration of drugs - this may not have been universal (I think it was a high risk behaviour)

I’ve heard it was a policy. But to be honest, as a patient, you’re asked to take in all your meds to hospital with you, and if you are not told not to take them, you may (esp if they’re the ones another doc has said are vital)

I can see how the treatment may be given high status - in reality enalapril was a chronic disease therapy and omission would not have caused a problem whereas it is possible that in a deteriorating patient it may have exacerbated the situation (all speculative)

What's not speculative is that Jack's mum had no clinical training and so would've known none of that. Which is probably why she asked a nurse and was 'permitted' to administer it. I'm sure the incomplete prescription chart didn't help the cause.pic.twitter.com/IrqWpgXKO8

This is all discussing what happened after the Titanic hit the iceberg. What could have made Jack more likely to survive sepsis with a particularly virulent bacteria was someone spotting with 1st 30 minutes his need to Go Directly To Paediatric Intensive Care - eg a Consultant
