Of course views all mine. All without prejudice. Just a regular chap after all. Oh...and RT's may equally imply ridicule as endorsement.

For a number of doctors to be defending her actions, has me thinking that the is generally the level of acceptable practice & care. Why else would they be screaming "it could be me next"? We accept it as service users or die.

Hospital medicine in the current climate is chaotic. Over that last winter period any clinical worker, and their patients, could have been in a similar situation. Where is the focus on improving this climate rather than metering out unfair justice?

Jack died 7 years ago. There have been 7 years worth of opportunities in this case and others to address the system issues. Why this case, and why now? Could it be something to do with Dr BG losing her job?

The NHS is a juggernaut with change slow to come. That being said, even in the short while I've known the NHS I have seen good changes comes but I have also seen the effect of poor staffing and an increasingly burdened system. We are busier than we have even been & we have less.

Do we have enough staff? Yes -> Good. No -> Get more. Respectfully, that really shouldn't take 7 years to work out. No matter the size of the juggernaut. On your previous tweet, what makes you say the justice was unfair? GNM is a VERY high legal bar that few ever clear.

Imagine coming into work not knowing how many people you'll be looking after or with whom you'll be doing it. Now imagine finding out that your role changes and that people who you thought where not under your care suddenly are. Imagine that some are actually very very sick.

It could have been me and that's no stretch of the imagination or extension of professional courtesy. It could have been me and I don't think I'm negligent. It could have been me and I'm not a bad guy.

As much as I sympathise with what you've said here (and I really do) I think we must be careful not to suggest 'everyone would've done the same', when we don't know the full details of her truly exceptionally bad 22 errors. Bolam demands reasonable, but GNM is not reasonable.

People in extraordinary circumstances respond in extraordinary ways. For better and for worse. From what we can read she had a nightmare day and when it rains it pours.

That's v true. And I'm beginning to get the impression that despite the glaring media spotlight, those nightmare days may be continuing in that same hospital. Which is sickening. But I'm reluctant to allow the 'system' to be a trump card which negates her actions w/o a transcript

The flaws in that hospital are common in most NHS Hospitals Some day again all the flaws will line up and another child or adult shall die. It’s as certain as a card player knows he will get a totally bad hand one day We need to make big changes in the cards, not the dealer

That may be mostly true but with respect it misses the point Gordon. Nobody is arguing that system flaws shouldn't be addressed. Of course we want all those things fixing too. We're not daft. We know it's only time before one of us loses another loved one if they're NOT fixed. 1/

So whoever's responsible for ignoring repeated warnings about such problems should be 1st in the dock, imho. And right next to them, you can put the consultant, dragged back from Ireland. NHS mobilise a legal army to issue EU arrest warrants against parents seeking better care 2/

But no such concern here? He swans off into the sunset unscathed, after first testifying against his junior. Blatant cover up by one of your own, but I see no mass call for action to hold him accountable. A regular event, but rarely so visible. 3/

All the action is instead about trying to allow a convicted criminal to continue being a doctor. And she is guilty w/o evidence to the contrary Gordon, no matter how many metaphors and analogies you offer us trying to suggest otherwise. 4/

This appeal is not going to alter her criminal conviction, even if successful and without access to that Crown Court transcript, none of us know what her 22 errors deemed 'truly exceptionally bad' really were.5/

Which can only mean that your support - and that of a seemingly unending supply of clinical commentators & financial supporters - must be blind, imho. How can it be anything else? It's not easy for me to understand. 6/6

We are all reasonable people but our narratives are different. It’s difficult to comprehend the effects of being a victim of medical error and the despair knowing it will happen to others. I realise that medics feel similar on behalf of colleagues.
