That ruling is from the GMC case. The criminal court transcript has never been published. The SI report is somewhere on the internet, last saw it published by @doctorcaldwell

Thanks Kate. On reflection I can’t remember exactly what it was I read but it certainly provided much more medical detail than I had read before. I remember being very shocked at the amount of failings in Jacks care.

For a number of doctors to be defending her actions, has me thinking that the is generally the level of acceptable practice & care. Why else would they be screaming "it could be me next"? We accept it as service users or die.

If the doctors tweeting
#iamhadiza truly believe they’d have acted the same, we are stuffed.5 replies 4 retweets 11 likes -

It seems clear that the child's collapse was a result of his mother's administering enalapril in direct opposition to the doctor's orders. A system which allows that to happen is tragically flawed. It is unrealistic and unfair to hold doctors accountable for systemic disasters.

It’s not clear at all, the court ruled that wasn’t the cause of death. The decision to withhold enalapril wasnt documented and the nurse Ok’d the mother giving in line with custom and practice on the ward. There were multiple failings.

The decision to withhold enalapril should have been inferred from the fact that the physician did not order it. Expecting an overwhelmed clinician to foresee every single consequence of a chaotic system, and proactively anticipate and prevent such consequences is unrealistic.

To be communicated telepathically?

To the equally overwhelmed, worried parent of a very sick child who is just trying to survive that self same chaotic system - without the benefit of clinical training to help understand events.

I think we can all agree that the system failed this very unfortunate child and his parents.

I think we can all agree that the system played a part, but the court was clear in its judgement that it had accounted for that factor in determining #BawaGarba's guilt. Jack and his parents were most definitely failed though. That's beyond debate.
