Of course views all mine. All without prejudice. Just a regular chap after all. Oh...and RT's may equally imply ridicule as endorsement.

slapping a DNR on a child is a bit of a biggie!

Hadiza did not slap a DNAR on Jack. Jack was moved from CAU to ward without Hadiza being made aware of it. When the crash call went & Hadiza arrived on ward & saw which bed, she confused him for another child who had DNAR who was in that bed before 1/2

This lead to Hadiza arriving & asking for CPR to be stopped saying this child is DNAR- but this was picked up by a junior & CPR resumed. It was later deemed in court this would have not made difference to outcome as it was past point of no return. 2/2 (I read court transcripts)

Where did you get the transcripts? They should be shared in the public interest.

Very good question. Is there a transcript of the original Crown Court trial in circulation now? Which reminds me, @HodkinsonAlice, you never did answer this tweet. Do you have access to this transcript? #BawaGarbahttps://twitter.com/c7rky/status/1022980701287849985?s=21 …

I can already see mention of your legal studies from your profile. So which was it? You have a transcript? Or you attended court? I've been eager to find either example for some time.

No non-lawyer, not even Mrs Adcock, (unless they have a bucketload of £) has access to court transcripts. The legal arguments are interesting https://www.timjohnson-law.com/bawa-garba  as are what evidence was and was not used, likewise for expert witness statements that were not used. #BawaGarba

Good to know it’s not actually forthcoming as previously stated! Was hoping to read the ‘why’ Dr BG was found to be ‘truly exceptionally bad’ but I guess we will never know.

It's not? Why not? That seemed to be broadly agreed before I took my Twitter break. I don't see how this campaign can be seen as anything other than blind support without it, frankly. Who know's what's unwittingly being defended here without that transcript?

I think the short answer is, it simply doesn't matter. Evidence based approaches are speedily punted off the nearest bridges when (some) medics feel exposed.

Like Nicola Adock said this week, where were all these medics when BawaGarba was on trial for 5 weeks? Such a self-serving response it makes my teeth ache.

There may be reason for some not attending, to be fair. But any of us not in attendance during those weeks can't claim to know all the facts, whatever the reason.https://twitter.com/gourmetpenguin/status/1022962707975294976?s=21 …

My memory is that we were actively discouraged from attending (unlike the nursing team who made sure there was someone there everyday). Also wouldn’t have been possible to take 4 weeks away from floor

It wasn't just about attendance though. No outcry (or apparent interest) when the GNM charge was given. Just tumbleweed until erasure.

Over the years I've been watching, news like this has always travelled very fast around the medical world. There are usually a dozen articles written by outraged clinicians within a couple of days, decrying any perceived wrong. How did this case come to be the exception?

It's hard to know about cases unless the situation makes it through to people who 1) have access to, and 2) are prepared to share in the (medical) press. Wouldn't have occurred to me to do that
