Had a v poorly little boy to look after for the last 4 days, (mercifully through the worst now). And next to worry for my son's wellbeing, do you know what the overriding feeling was? Fear. Fear of the medical profession getting their hands on my son. Are you proud of yourselves?

Yes that's how I see it too :-)

I believe the vast majority of clinicians & managers are honest & well intentioned. Problem is the system & toxic hierarchies mean they can act ( inadvertently) as enablers for those who put reputation & power over accountability. Took me 30+ years to work this out.

Hmm. Had to pause & think about this one, because although I'd like to believe it, it's not been reflected by reality so far. I'm afraid I flat out don't believe it re managers and I'm becoming increasingly unwilling to accept complicit silence as well intentioned or inadvertent.

I understand your point of view. It's hard to offer any examples to support my view on managers, especially as many of the good mangers I had in mind have now left. I agree that complicit silence is never acceptable.

To name but 2 of our longest serving members... of a club that nobody wanted to join.

Yes, and there are many many more in this group of people and families failed so badly.

I was only talking to someone about this recently. We need a way to measure our numbers. A place where we can all tell our stories & have them be there for others to learn from. I don't think the scale of this will be appreciated until we ourselves make it clear. Nobody else will

The challenge to do this IMO is always money & time. A fortune of public money is spent on denying the truth ('experts', reviews, 'listening events', consultants etc.) & ridiculous schemes like
#FTSU which are designed to keep a lid on things. Whilst those affected are isolated. - 3 more replies
