As a clinician it saddens me to hear that, although sadly I do understand why. Personally I am ashamed.

Thank you Steve. From what I've seen, you have nothing to be ashamed of. If only more lived up to the 'most trusted profession' hype. Or even tried...
-
Thank you. I'm not perfect & always learning. I was involved in a serious incident review some years ago & was criticised. What I did learn was that honesty is always best & I'm so glad all involved were I wish I could do more. I'm blacklisted by parts of the
#nhs unfortunately. -
Badge of honour, as far as I'm concerned. Significantly higher prevalence of honest clinicians on the blacklist than anywhere else, ime.
-
Yes that's how I see it too :-)
-
I believe the vast majority of clinicians & managers are honest & well intentioned. Problem is the system & toxic hierarchies mean they can act ( inadvertently) as enablers for those who put reputation & power over accountability. Took me 30+ years to work this out.
-
Hmm. Had to pause & think about this one, because although I'd like to believe it, it's not been reflected by reality so far. I'm afraid I flat out don't believe it re managers and I'm becoming increasingly unwilling to accept complicit silence as well intentioned or inadvertent.
-
I understand your point of view. It's hard to offer any examples to support my view on managers, especially as many of the good mangers I had in mind have now left. I agree that complicit silence is never acceptable.

You might be interested in taking a look at our campaign? We are all ordinary families who didn't expect to find ourselves in this position.http://Timeforaction.org.uk

Thank you Helen. Interesting website - I'll take a look through that. My son would be one of the MMR statistics, so I understand the nature of your concerns.
-
Thank you and so sorry about your son. We've been updating the website so hope you find it interesting. Are you campaigning on something particular?
-
Thank you. I'm presuming you have similar cause to be involved too, so I imagine you understand more than most. I don't 'campaign' for any one thing tbh. Fighting this war on many fronts wherever I see patient risk. But this was where my journey started:https://twitter.com/c7rky/status/601118759995187201?s=21 …

Thank you. I'm so sorry about what happened. My daughter and others have experienced long term illness after receiving the HPV vaccine. In the process have learnt a lot about clinical trials and how medicines get to market.
-
I've been following the story - I'm so sorry to hear your family is one of those affected. It's caused me to keep my eye on similar issues to yourself by the sounds of things. Did you pick up on this recent development over the pond?https://twitter.com/c7rky/status/1018483805827551233?s=21 …
-
Thank you, yes I have. Our group is excited that this study has just been published in the BMJhttps://ebm.bmj.com/content/early/2018/07/27/bmjebm-2018-111012 …

That's astonishing. And SO disappointing. I've always held Cochrane in high regard, but that's unforgivable. I can't see all the text; do they suggest inclusion of all the trials would affect the conclusions too? Wouldn't be a surprise, given past form:https://twitter.com/c7rky/status/958389335778381824?s=21 …
