Even with patient/family involvement it’s not a fair playing field. The trust holds the records, knowledge, access to legal advice, access to future treatment. The patient ..?

I said the same earlier. I have never had any fear of openness & honesty with patients & families. I have, at times feared my colleagues & seniors, because of the name, blame, shame & retrain culture. Stories I may tell in the fullness of time.

I shall look forward to reading them when you do. :)

Whoever those people are that you have in mind Ken, from whom you feel the need to be safe... they're the ones I want. To have them feel our collective hand on their shoulder whilst being asked to explain themselves. They should be dragged out and publicly held to account, imho.

I wouldn’t be looking for retribution / punishment, I would be looking to facilitate contemplative reflection on their activities, to provoke real learning & behavioural change.

It starts with real accountability for me. And I don't mean for honest clinical errors - we're all human. My focus is the cover ups and those responsible for them. If through such actions they have knowingly exposed others to risk, I believe punishment is entirely appropriate.

Makes my brain weep. So much so nonsensical.

Maybe I wouldn't mind so much if I felt like I could just walk away? But this whole direction feels dangerous to me. The very opposite of what's needed to prevent cover-ups. Something which if allowed, may be around to haunt generations of medical victims yet to come.

The weight of evidence of cover up and obfuscation by health profs/trusts is staggering and yet no real action to confront it. Just the opposite.

I find
@MentalHealthCop's bafflement by this so refreshing. Let's hope@MattHancock doesn't get sucked into the HF mire. -
We can only hope. And of course cry foul from the rooftops... again.

other than to say registered nurses are professionally obliged to advocate for patients, not employers / other HCP’s. That is what they must do and what patients should expect.
