My concern is this will be our best opportunity to get safe space to support the new HSIB in place. I want to amend the Bill, not start afresh.https://twitter.com/peterwalshavma/status/1017319040090562560 …

It can be amended in ways that would make it acceptable to everyone. However first we need to accept that in it's present form it is a disaster waiting to happen

I think the phrase “disaster” is not appropriate. It implies that the team at HSIB can’t be trusted in how they apply it. Their equivalents in other industries rarely have to use their legislative powers.

It's not a question of trusting HSIB that makes the Bill in it's current form a disaster. It is the accreditation of trusts to do local safe space investigations,, the prohibition on sharing "any" information, and making findings in the report inadmissible.

It's utterly unacceptable. There is no serious support for this among the bulk of NHS complainants because being the group that knows best, they recognise exactly how the NHS will abuse safe space to do what they already do - cover up their scandals.

Maybe other industries were more honest. NHS has been happy to cover up even 100s of failings per dr

It's funny - I used to preach what I called the 'Medical Model' to financial services cos. I perceived medicine's perfect ethical model would help curb dodgy financial practices. But on reflection, I wonder if insurance salesmen couldn't teach doctors a thing or 2 about ethics!?
