"Gosport inquiry 'ignored' evidence about syringes" > The dyke is crumbling around Jeremy Hunt's finger and the cover-ups are threatening to pour out. But don't fall for the spin here - syringe drivers didn't kill a single patient. Those who used them did.http://news.sky.com/story/gosport-inquiry-ignored-evidence-about-dangerous-syringes-11415289 …

There may have been a problem with the syringe drivers and of course needs looked into if there is concern. But having read the report the practices on the ward were really very abnormal and this just seems to muddy the waters to start talking about the drivers

The doses of the drugs used were massive, I have never heard anywhere of syringe drivers being prescribed ‘as required’ and many may have not been in pain etc

If the drivers were delivering those doses over an hour most of the patients would have probably died very quickly (quicker than in most of the cases in the report)

There’s also something that really irks me about the quote: “Is that what killed granny?” It doesn’t feel right. Is that the language a whistleblower would use? I guess only time will tell, just seems odd to me

It's v interesting to read your thoughts on all that - thanks James, much appreciated. My gut feeling is that this whole syringe driver point is a red herring. An attempt to blame a thing, rather than a person. 'Odd' is a good word for it. And I agree; it describes the WB quote.
