Twitter is having a bad influence on me - I seriously calling my new piece at https://www.dignityincare.org.uk/Discuss-and-debate/Dignity-Champions-forum/Mikes-Cheeky-Blog-the-Mental-Capacity-Act-inevitable-unknowns-and-safeguarding./991/ … 'I was there, you weren't - suck it up!'.https://twitter.com/C7RKY/status/1009730583986081792 …
Ha! I can feel your frustration coming through in that one, Mike. Well done for holding your ground though. You are of course absolutely right, imho - the assumption of power you describe is a spurious one in legal terms. Hope you're well mate, despite it all.

I've yet to check my e-mails, since sending a very vexed e-mail to a very high-profile palliative care doctor. Yes, of course that 'assumption of power' is spurious in legal terms - but for some reason most medics seem unable to see what the MCA actually says!

I'm sorry to say that medics generally see what they want to see, ime. And self doubt seems to diminish in direct proportion to increased seniority The few who are open minded and will consider a topic objectively are rare and highly cherished as a result.
