The director shall be appointed by the president, unless the acting director says no, at which time the president shall have no authority. http://ow.ly/l1vR30gO3CJ http://ow.ly/wzjV30gO3D0

The President is given the opportunity to chose a director with advice and consent of the Senate. He has no legal right to appoint an acting director.

The CFPB is a powerful agency driven by the whims of its creators (Warren) and its liberal director (Cordray) with no oversight from Congress. It has made credit more expensive and more difficult to get for all, especially the poorer folks. Kill it.

You have heard of advice and consent and the US Constitution and the sadly very real power Trump and McConnell have here. They have nominated Powell for Fed Chair even as Yellen is still in charge (which is 100% a kosher process). Why not here??????

Yeah, unless a Dem is POTUS. I think the point that a POTUS can't select an intermediate director of an executive branch agency is patently absurd. Dems know this will turned around on them in the future right?
