Bottom line: On Russia, the final GOP platform was tougher, not weaker, than the original draft. If you read this: http://ow.ly/XdFw30gFpWm  also read this:http://ow.ly/A7YH30gFpWD

The first mistake they made was suggesting Russia wanted Dt to win the presidency. It was a misinformation campaign to get the media to believe Russia wanted Dt to hurt him, not help him. And of course our media/intel community fell for it

Excellent reporting. Not sure why it is headlined "opinion" though.

POTUS is quoted as saying, "I heard they softened it, but I was not a part of it." Lol @ you.

Carter Page, in an email, says "good work on Ukraine amendment". Is it your position that these two ppl are idiots or are you being disengenuous with your readers?

A lot of words to try and obfuscate that the Trump people watered down the Amendment and removed the reference to “lethal weapons”. Byron has turned into a 100% dependable Trump shill. History will not be kind to you Byron, hope they are paying you enough to sacrifice your rep.

The logic of ur reply post is absent. If congress/POTUS44 wanted to provide lethal weapons to Ukraine, why didn’t they? Because to do so, they’d lose support from allies in Germany/France. If Russia escalated, we have few arrows left to use. Think before making knee jerk slanders

That is a completely different argument. You can defend the changes to the amendment which is fine but what you can’t do is deny that it happened. Try to follow along.

Ur argument is that the changes were designed to accommodate or provide a quid pro quo to Russia. That is factually wrong and as Byron notes the original text was not weakened at all.

If that is the hill you want to die on so be it. So far I believe investigators and journalists uncovered over 31 contacts between RU gov’t agents and Trump campaign/transition people and 16 face to face meetings. They denied every single one. Why do you think that is?

Ur including brief social conversations at Public Policy Events and RNC too which are a joke. All disinfo campaign sign over fear that the new admin would undue the security state. That is a like I will stand on. A security state that misled on ISIS, Iraq WMD etc

I recall that it was general consensus by Democrats & Republicans that Trump campaign wanted to soften language as it relates to Russian aggression in Ukraine

Every part of the Russophobic narrative is like this. Relations with RU have sadly gotten worse under Trump.
