How is it that everyone in DC forgets what 6 feet means when they enter a grocery store? I’m out for a run, people cross the street in traffic to social distance... But when I’m at Giant just trying to pick my protein, it’s like y’all want a group hug or something

Seeing all the 2020 recap posts made me think of writing my own, because it’s truly been a great decade. Instead, I just want to thank my support network: my loving God, fiancée, family, church, & friends. The 2010s were possible because all the above told me “we can do this.”

Re-posting due to a typo -- curse you Twitter and your lack of an edit option! But big thanks to & for the data behind this project, and & for the great documentation that made it easy to craft the visualization I was looking for!

Love this idea; deserves props! I’ve used a bunch of libraries in Python. Many have niche advantages, but if I had to build a very specific viz, the only tool I’m confident could get it exactly right is . It is THE core of viz in Python, hands down.

2nd, I need to be better about being a good neighbor. I know DC is a transient place, but as I scrambled to pound on doors and raise alarm that people needed to get out, I realized there were far too few names I could call out from memory. (3/5)

As I stood out in the freezing rain praying in the dark for those still at risk inside, I thanked God for the courage and quick action of the first responders. I tried to thank all of you in person that I could, but thank you... thank you . (2/5)

at a library tearing up because you think you'll never "catch up" as you try to learn new skills. You're not alone, and these communities exist to ensure you feel welcomed. I wish I knew that earlier. Huge props to all those putting accessibility 1st; we can keep improving. (8/8)

I'm always trying to create, share, and teach content that focuses first on , because I would not be where I am today had many people not taken the time to try novel solutions to make content accessible to me. And finally, if you're stuck... (7/8)

what encouraged me the most was when I stumbled upon communities of coders ( and in particular) who embraced my questions and never cast shame. Accessibility was a dominant theme, not a footnote. That's why I love content like 's materials. (6/8)

I recall in particular being so overwhelmed studying econometrics while abroad because I had never really learned the basic required, so I staid overnight in the library many times, desperately trying to self-teach all these concepts from textbooks, all on my own. (4/8)
