My colleague @StevenBeschloss told me he made $32K on his first journalism job 30 years ago. I made $32K on my first journalism job 20 years ago. A former student, recent grad, is making $32K on his first job. Is that still the starting salary for entry-level journalism jobs?

Mine about 10 years ago in TV news in Lansing was closer to $25K. I don't think it's likely gone up significantly as the bargaining unit there had just approved a 2% raise spread out over 4 years when I left.

😯 And I bet you didn’t work 40 hours a week. (Just don’t calculate the pay per hour. Can be depressing.)
