Work to install Bellevue's newest separated bike lanes -- on 119th Ave SE, from SE 56th to SE 60th streets, wrapped up Friday. A family wasted no time trying it out. The 2016 Neighborhood Safety, Connectivity & Congestion Levy funded the project bit.ly/2TfLjLy

Love the lanes, genuine kudos for that. But can we now install some bollards to actually create protection?

Thanks for the feedback. We're sharing it with our traffic engineering group. Considerations for the type of separation used includes cost and how quickly the improvements can be implemented.
Good thing we continue to add bike lanes in a city where it rains 150 days a year and is too cold to ride another 90 days.
What if you just had like 20ft for cars (including parked ones), and then some kind of barrier or positive separation, and then a bikeway? I found this picture online in like 2 minutes and it's just a hedge but why can't we build it?
