Update: the 92-year-old victim was out for a walk & attempted to cross NE 8th St to go home. The male driver, in his 50s, says he never saw the victim enter the roadway. The driver is cooperating with investigators—no sign of impairment.
NE 8th St between 156 Ave NE & 164th Ave NE is restricted to just one lane. Please avoid the area and drive carefully.

I am so sad to hear about this. There is even a new(ish) lighted crosswalk near there due to a previous car/pedestrian fatality. I'm so sorry for everyone involved.
Enforce the speed limit on NE 8th. Half of the cars driving on NE 8th street are well above the speed limit. There's no speed limit detecting signs telling drivers to slow down and there's no speed bumps. It's only enforced by patrol officers for just a for a few hours a year.
