Super Bowl Sunday is a big day for guacamole — which could also mean more ER visits. A recent study found as avocado consumption has gone up in the U.S., so too have avocado-related knife injuries.https://trib.al/88RRpvK

Spoon works ok for guacamole, but if you're looking for pretty, pro-cut slices you'll need to use this technique.
-
In That case I resort to:
Same as above: top to bottom cut. Two halves.
Half with pit: cut into half (quarters) use knife to gently pry pit.
Worst case scenario still: 75% pretty slices
And Zero knife injuries

Most people making guacamole for superbowl aren’t “chefs” = knife injuries

A spoon makes sense. I always used my fingers. Those pits are NOT cemented in there!

-
Depends on your avocado, some are pretty resistant. That said, some pits almost fall out even with the fruit being the same ripeness.

Are you asking or telling us that you've always used a spoon?

A spoon will take some of the meat. The knife is the clear choice for the not incompetent among us. Not saying you are. But the knife casualties are.

I use a small knife. I make a grid to make cubes to mash for guacamole i’m not using axe sized knife, nor pressing with such force as to risk injury I usually use the spoon to slide the meat out
I am from El Salvador and I guarantee the above headline never happens there
