Here's another midterm analysis seeking simple answers. Result wasn't just due to Dobbs. Also bad candidates, horrible post-1/6 GOP brand, no positive platform, overweighting generic ballots & Biden favorability, and presuming a historical trend as destiny
2nd guessing of national Democrats midterm spend is inevitable. makes good micro case below in AZ races. At a macro level, 140 House Democrats in safe districts kept >$200M parked in their war chests with "democracy on the line." See story: sactopolitico.com/post/safe-hous

In the closing months of the campaign, DCCC/HMP spent $2.7m to defend Stanton in his Biden+10 seat (he won by 12) and $1.8m to defend O’Halleran in his Trump+8 seat (he lost by 8). But they spent just $1.1m vs. AZ1 and $0 in AZ6, two races won by Rs by a combined 6,511 votes.

With political statistics, always study the denominator. 95% of 100 is less than 60% of 1,000. Slightly more Americans identify as Democrat (46%) than GOP (43%). So surveys that poll equal numbers of Dems & Reps are slightly off to begin with.
Unfortunate to see WashPost's Dana column today "Elegy for an honest Republican" about Calif. . A Google search would have found my two investigations into illegal and unethical campaign fundraising/spending tactics by Valadao.

Late money into campaigns says a lot. For , on Halloween alone this included more than $10K from 2 fossil fuel PACs & Dr. Oz's PAC, and no donations from any individuals. According to OpenSecrets, just 4% of all his 2022 funds have come from inside the CA-22.
Early California voting stats show 15% of Republicans have returned ballots to 14% Dems. But #CA3 race leads state with 19% GOP, 22% Dems having voted. What does it mean? Hard to say, with a lot more votes to come, but following my expectations of a close race.

Kari Lake. Glenn Youngkin. Donald Trump Jr.: leading Republicans telling Americans GOP will keep them safe, but make jokes about political violence. And in Sacramento area, GOP House hopeful won't say if he supports neo-Nazis.

The is consistent in criticizing but often poor in its execution. Here's an opinion piece that says Kiley would be a disgrace if elected to Congress, but barely mentions his opponent & not until last third of the article.
It's 10 days since I broke story of credible money laundering charges filed against -endorsed Board of Equalization incumbent Mike Schaefer. Yet no other media in SoCal is sharing this info with the voting public. "Democracy dies in darkness."

The assault on Nancy Pelosi’s husband should remind why all journalists must report on politicians who dodge Qs about cozying up with violent radicals. Still waiting for any Sacramento outlet to match my coverage of past 2 years… including this past week.

See 12:25 point of - debate tonight that deals with my reporting on Kiley's speaking at an event co-organized by a radical who had recently called for armed insurrection. Kiley lied when he said he was unfamiliar with the individual.

#Sacramento area school board races finally attracting coverage. SacBee reported about a Natomas School Board candidate who recommended replacing polio vaccine with light. Here's guest essay in my pub on another Natomas candidate & gender-neutral restrooms
Wow, has been running for Congress for nearly a year. But with just 15 days left until election day, he has finally added an "issues" page to his campaign website. But as opponent notes, Kiley's platform totals just 313 words.
It's that time of the year when Beltway pundits who make very nice livelihoods feign acting as exhausted by campaign season like average voters. Today it was a well-manicured fellow Danielle Pletka in cocktail party garb rolling her eyes on .

Hard to know if the below ground game by Kermit for Congress will prove pivotal, but its among several differences in stretch-run strategy between and that I report on in my current article: sactopolitico.com/post/ca3-jones #Midterms2022

Today our campaign knocked on over 4000 doors! That brings us to nearly 120,000 doors knocked for the campaign. This is what democracy looks like! Thank you so much to the 105 volunteers who joined us today 💙

Here's my latest scoop about charges of campaign money laundering. The charge: a Democratic incumbent allegedly paid off a GOP group to convince Republicans to vote for him against a fellow Democrat in a runoff. Judge for yourself. #political
It will be interesting to see how this money is distributed in the coming days. With the balance of power on the Board of Supervisors on the ballot, will , or perhaps as beneficiaries?
