Just published the post I've been working on for some time: "Fixing Founder Scarcity" The world seems to have a shortage of entrepreneurs and we keep paying more and more (probabilistically) to increase their supply. A risk-sharing scheme might fix it.

(I used “black box” to draw a picture here but is likely wrong naming. “Software module” maybe? Also, it is bad and very distastful to think of people like software modules. But the metaphor can be useful in thinking about how effective teams work etc)

Few weeks ago my cofounder was describing someone that he felt is exceptionally good to work with. He used some specific words which led me to ask him: “So you’re saying he has a good API and has a great black box” He lit up: “Exactly!” So maybe this is an accurate-ish model

Few years ago I had a fun observation: People (in work/collaboration context) act a bit like a black box software with an API. Some people have a great black box (reliability, technical skill) but they have poor APIs (hard to speak, lots of communication redundancy needed)

“..my job was to apply the formula: Take the average number of twitter accounts, A. Multiply it by our average ban rate B. Then multiply it by the average out of court settlement, C. If A, times B, times C, is less than total cost of regulation, we ban as we see fit”

The internet enabled the world to achieve all sorts of efficiency gains from increasing temporal asynchronicity (in comms, tv viewing, etc). But one of the costs has been a fracturing of our cultural synchronicity. We live in the great unbundling now.

Very much enjoyed this chat with ⁦⁩ Price trends signal a severe founder scarcity: We have so many ideas to test and so much capital that founders became the bottleneck. Some finance concepts may help us get more founders!

Normal self laughed. Finance self got an itching desire to point out how one’s ability to print own currency changes things. Normal self seems less boring so...

After playing around with an audio editing tool I noticed for the first time: Everything is getting easier to learn (coding, piano, audio editing) due to software/internet competition
