    Despite having a busy day, the Elephants managed to find time to write a stunning collection of poems based on the features we found in the classic poem 'The Eagle'. The children put huge efforts into these, which is clear to see. Well done team!

    We loved practising some mindful meditation today in the Elephants. This will help us to remember to take a moment to become aware of ourselves and our surroundings, as well as help us to focus our thoughts and breathing.

    The Elephants enjoyed having grown-ups in this morning to share some activities around mental health. We considered breathing techniques for when we are struggling to "find our brave" and made a pencil case reminder.

    The Elephants have finished their class reader! We have laughed and cried, whooped and cheered aloud whilst absorbing this powerful story. This one will have a lasting impact on our young people. A very relevant story about love for one another.

    More classic poetry in the Elephants this morning! Today we looked at old fashioned and unfamiliar vocabulary and worked out the meaning from the context. We were able to use dictionaries and other sources to check we were correct.

    The Elephants have been inspired by classic poetry this week, including an in-depth study of 'The Eagle' by Alfred Lord Tennyson. This has provoked incredible thoughts about imagery as well as language choices. Here we are enjoying some more classic poetry!

    Year 5 have been very busy in Maths today and have begun to add and subtract fractions. We are using models and drawings to support our understanding, whilst looking at the numerators and denominators. We love to draw on the tables!

    Year 5 have been busy this week! We are studying The Borrowers in taught reading and have worked as a whole class to create the living room, using information we were able to retrieve from the text. Thank you to adults who sent items in from home for us to use!
