Why? I mean I understand Trump's motive...but why the whole agency?
As a former agent, I can tell you that cruelty is the point. They have the ability to treat families humanely but choose not to bc Border Patrol does not value the lives of immigrants. This is taught in the academy & reinforced by management.

It’s just been that way. The agency has largely always been ignored. Agents select, hire and train the new ones. So the good ole boy network and the racism is very well established.

One of my mothers friends sons worked for border patrol since 2004. He recently quit this last year. He didnt say much other than he couldnt "handle" what was going on

I read The Devils Highway by Luis Alberto Urrea. It’s really great at telling all sides of the story. I don’t think (MOST) BP wants to be assholes, the job makes them that way.
