The more I write about this, the more it becomes plain: if Biden loses, 2020 will be the last remotely free and fair election we have for decades, and certainly my lifetime. We are in the middle of an autocratic attempt, and it looks so much like Hungary's... 1/n

In most states, your vote no longer matters. We are rapidly approaching it at a federal level. "You know that you are no longer living in a democracy because the elections in which you are participating no longer can yield political change" 10/nhttps://www.vox.com/the-big-idea/2017/1/9/14207302/authoritarian-states-boring-tolerable-fascism-trump …

This is why so many of us former Republicans are supporting Biden. The parties appear to be slowly but inexorably realigning. Instead of liberal v. conservative; liberal democracy v. autocracy. A new Lincoln Party which would be a conservative democratic party is also possible
-
I see no evidence of autocracy. It does.however, seem like the Democratic party has been coopted by radical ideas that see tearing people down as a means for equality rather than lifting all people up. This type of levelling the playing field is worse for society.

Reason #199 why I’m taking measures to be able to leave the US If he does pull this out- while Dems sit around filing lawsuits AFTER he breaks Every norm on 11/3 incl sending Troops & Cops to polls, as Dems do Nothing NOW to PREVENT it- I won’t be here to see BS outcome of suits.

The added twist is that you will only be able to go to Mexico - most other countries are closed to Americans right now. Canada will probably stay closed until Spring 2021 at least. Unless you get new cases WAY DOWN you will be stuck.

So if you agree that the Democratic Party are either being obtuse/complicit or blatantly incompetent for mildly handling the corruption in Tr*mp’s administration, how can you conclude that voting for them will save us from autocracy if they never showed urgency to save citizens-
-
earlier? I don’t advocate for not voting, but if our elected officials don’t feel the pressure from citizens who want immense change in-between election cycles or even close to an upcoming election, I don’t think votes will make them feel the pressure. We might’ve already lost.

It is a hopeless misjudgement to think that one could force a dictatorial regime upon the German nation. [...] The diversity of the German people calls for democracy. — Theodor Wolff in Frankfurter Zeitung, Jan 1933

If Trump wins but the Senate flips, then we still have a chance.
-
More than a chance. The Senate is much more important than the White House this November.
