Just in case anyone thinks "this could never happen", when the UK had similar, it became part of the school syllabus to teach that LGB people are evil.
I was at school when section 28 was introduced. I remember one of our lesbian teachers taking a sex ed class and telling us that she could only talk about heterosexual sex because Maggie was narrow minded. We all laughed at the time. Looking back, it was really brave of her.
I would remind these Christians that Jesus never said one work about LGBT's, not a word. In fact, Now that i think about it, Jesus never married, hung out with a bunch of men who burned incense, drinking wine and talking about love. Hm... maybe Jesus was????
