Tusk says the EU would feel "empathy" towards an independent 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 joining. This is the equivalent of a British politician encouraging the breakup of Belgium or Catalan secession. Not satisfied with having tried to prevent Brexit, the EU now seeks to foment division w/in UK.

  2. Out of the EU and into the World: Today, the UK has resumed its solo seat at the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Fittingly, we are seated next to the United States.

  3. There’s no point obsessing over a poll about a referendum that isn’t happening. Unionists need to play the long game and focus on delivering post-Brexit prosperity to Scotland. In time, the arguments of the SNP will come unstuck. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

  4. EU Rules say that a member state’s budget deficit may not exceed 3% of GDP. Scotland’s is 7%, and it’s the SNP’s fault. Whoops.

  5. The BBC managed to emblazon their studio with the colours of the EU flag on Friday evening, but not to air the PM's address to the nation or accurately report the size of the crowd in Parliament Square. Oh, and the frontrunner to succeed Lord Hall is a former Labour Politican.

  6. The cost of the BBC Licence Fee is increasing. Do they need extra money for more anti-British propaganda aimed at children?

  8. Today, German Flag Carrier Lufthansa launched a direct flight between Newcastle and Munich as part of a wider 15% increase in capacity to the UK by the group. As international business continues to invest in Britain, Project Fear lies in tatters.

"If we are brave and if we truly commit to...championing global free trade now...we can make a huge success of this venture for Britain, for our European friends and for the world.” A powerful and encouraging speech from the Prime Minister today.

The UK does not expect special treatment in trade negotiations with the EU. We are, after all, now a so-called “third country.” The problem is that, through backdoor ECJ Jurisdiction etc., the EU is offering worse treatment than it has to other countries. This is unacceptable.

Twitter was a mess this past weekend. It was awash with a great many furious Rejoiners perpetuating insulting, narrow-minded stereotypes about Brexiteers and spurning unity in favour of denigrating those who voted to leave. This is why they lost.

First the recession was going to happen immediately after the vote. Then when we triggered Article 50. Then when we left. Now it’s “LOL, don’t you idiots know what a transition period is?” Doomsday, it seems, is always just around the corner.

When the EU tried to overturn the democratic rejection of the EU Constitution in France and the Netherlands, they succeeded. When the EU tried to overturn Brexit, the British people said “Not this time!” 🇬🇧

Polls ahead of Ireland's General Election on Saturday suggest that we won't have to listen to Varadkar for very much longer. The question is whether his rival Micheál Martin will take a more pragmatic approach to Brexit if he comes to power. Time will tell.

You should take MEP out of your Twitter handle, since you aren't one any longer.

Starmer (for it is he) says that he would argue for the reintroduction of Free Movement if he becomes party leader. Labour still doesn't get it. We have not left the European Union merely to replicate the structures thereof outside the treaties.

Emerging reports suggest that both Daniel Hannan and Gisela Stuart will receive peerages soon. Both are talented politicians, entirely deserving of such an honour. Their addition will improve the Upper Chamber vastly...

Italy a firm favourite in the comments. If Salvini were to come to power, Italy would be more likely to at least get a vote.

Which of the EU27 is most likely to follow us out of the 🇪🇺? It is unlikely to be anywhere in the East - they receive too much money from Brussels. France, a net contributor and mired in popular discontent would be the most likely candidate - if ever they're allowed a vote.
